Obituary For Alfra Moss Golden

Obituary

On April 5, 2022, Mrs. Alfra Lee Moss Golden transitioned peacefully to her Heavenly home to suffer no more.

Mrs. Alfra Lee Moss Golden, affectionately known as “Ferda” and “Cookie”, was born on November 15, 1936 to the late Louis and Clementine Moss in Dew Point, GA. She was raised in Quitman, GA by her grandmother Rilla Scott. At an early age she joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church of Quitman, GA where she would also attend faithfully with her family. She knew the Lord. She loved the Lord. She attended the Brooks County School system. She also attended the nursing aide program in Valdosta, GA where she became a certified nurse aide. She was employed at The Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA, many years ago.

In 1960, she met and married the late Ralph Golden, Sr. To this beautiful union, they were Blessed with 10 loving children. She never met a stranger. If you knew her, you would know that she loved to talk about medicine and her all-time favorite, home remedies. She had a strong belief in them. She was very knowledgeable about home remedies and didn’t mind sharing what she knew with others. She would almost always send you home with one of her many home remedies. Some of her children and grandkids often referred to her as the “Medicine Lady”. To know her was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, both parents, grandmother, and four children; Michael Golden, Kenneth Hunter, Jackie Hunter, and Charlene Golden Ashley.

She leaves to cherish her many memories; six children, Lindsey Johnson of Laurel, MD; Jeffrey Golden of Thomasville, GA; Ralph Golden, Jr., of Louisville, KY; Janice Staten, Roderick (Tammy) Golden, Jerris Golden all of Quitman, GA; 17 Grandchildren that she loved dearly, (special granddaughter, Ebony Golden, whom she called her “nurse”, that took such great care of her during her time of illness); 44 great grandchildren; one niece Terry Gordon of Miami, FL; one very special and much-loved cousin, Russell (Ruth) Scott of Columbus, GA. She will be truly missed. Forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11AM on the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Lawn with Rev. Floyd Demps, eulogist. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery.
