Obituary For Mr. Oba Anthony Wallace

Augusta, Georgia-Mr. Oba Wallace departed this life on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Charlie Norwood Veterans Adminstration Medical Center, Downtown Division.

Oba, also known as Gregory, was the son of the late Willie Mae Dixon and Vance Chavis.

He attended the Jersey City Public Schools.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam. He received his Teaching Degree from Montclair State College.

Oba enjoyed playing chess and dominoes, but his favorite was bowling. He was part of multiple bowling leagues in his community.

He was baptized in Jerusalem and was a member of Whole Life Ministries, where he served many roles.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Gregory Chavis from Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Jazzmaine Wallace of Augusta, GA; two granddaughters, Talyn Chavis and A’vah Brooks; two sister moms, Jannie Hope and Sharon Johnson; and a host of relatives and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Whole Life Ministries Chapel, 2621 Washington Road, Augusta, Georgia.

Interment will be Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29229.
