Obituary For Christine McLamb Appleberry

Christine McLamb Appleberry, 86, formerly of Willingboro, NJ, transitioned peacefully at her home in Baltimore, MD on Friday, April 8, 2022. Christine, the daughter of the late Laurie Herbert McLamb and the late Estella Simmons McLamb, was born in Steelton, PA, educated in the public school system and graduated from Steelton High School in 1954. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1959 and a Master of Education from Shippensburg State College in 1976. Her career as an educator spanned 41 years. She taught in the Harrisburg, PA and Syracuse, NY Public School Systems and spent the last 30 years teaching third and fourth grades at South Valley Elementary School in Moorestown, NJ prior to her retirement in 2001. Christine enjoyed traveling, attending concerts, reading, spending time with her family and participating in community service projects as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She leaves to mourn and celebrate her life and legacy, her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonice and Arthur Burnett; her brothers Henry "Pop" (Lucy) McLamb and Eclemus "Tim" (Tami) Wright; her sister, Vernette "Sheena" (Lester) Smith and a host of other family members and friends. A viewing will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, 704 North Front Street, Steelton, PA, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Services will be live-streamed on the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home YouTube channel. Interment will be at the William Howard Day Cemetery, 801 Lincoln Street, Steelton, PA. A memorial gift may be made in her memory at LUNGevity.org.
