Obituary For Edward Jasper

( January 18, 1973 -- April 14, 2022 )

TYLER --- Funeral services for Mr. Edward Jasper, 49, of Troup will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1 pm. The service will be held in Troup Tiger Stadium in Troup, Texas with Pastor Willie Lacy serving as eulogist under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company. Mr. Jasper was born on January 18, 1973, in Tyler, Smith County and transitioned on April 14, 2022 at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Health System. He was a former All-East Texas standout as a Troup Tiger who went on to star at Texas A & M and play in the NFL. Edward was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 1997 NFL Draft, the 109th overall selection. He played in 1997-98 for the Eagles, followed by stops with the Atlanta Falcons (1999-2004) and the Oakland Raiders (2005). He helped lead the Falcons to the playoffs in 2002 and 2004 (reached the NFC Championship ). During his time in the NFL, he had 17 sacks, 247 tackles and 4 forced fumbles playing in 132 games.

Mr. Jasper was preceded in death by his grandparents: John T Jasper and Eddie Lee Jasper. Dessie Lee Minor and Alice Minor Shelton (Dear-Dear).

Left to cherish his memories are his parents: mother-Catherine Jasper of Troup, Texas, father and step-mother-Emerson (Kelly) Jasper of Jacksonville, Texas; four daughters: Dancicia Jasper in Longview, Texas, Zalai Jasper in Tyler, Texas, Sydnee Jasper and Stori Jasper in Grand Prairie, Texas; two sons: Nicolas Jasper, Georgia and Nathan Jasper in Houston, Texas; two brothers: Shane Jasper in Troup, Texas and Eric (Kersha) Jasper of Missouri; two sisters: Allison Jasper and Raven Jasper of Jacksonville, Texas; 5 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home. There will be no viewing on Saturday at the service.
