Obituary For Darryl Dermont "Butchie" Jones

Our Heavenly Father in His infinite wisdom and loving compassion called our beloved Darryl D. Jones, 65, from this earthly life to glory on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. Darryl Dermont Jones, nicknamed “Butchie” by his maternal grandfather, Champ Clark, Sr., was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Ethel Clark Jones and the late Henry B. Jones. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Champ Clark Sr. and Johanna Hines Clark and his beloved companion of 24 years, Laura Ann Taylor. Butchie, affectionately called by his family and friends, was educated in the Harrisburg School District. He enjoyed listening to Jazz and R&B classics. He loved to watch all the Karate movies to include, Bruce Lee, Jet Lee and Jackie Chan. He also enjoyed watching Star Wars, Star-Trek and TV shows from the 60’s. He retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers' fan. He loved spending time with family and spoiling his grandchildren. Darryl leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories, his daughter, Yvonne Dominique Jones-Taylor; his mother, Ethel Y. Jones, his brother, Brian E. Jones, all of Harrisburg, PA; his sister, Stephanie L. Baker of Columbia, MD, his three step sons, Lemond Taylor, Tony Taylor, Taraja Mills; his two stepdaughters, Corinthian Taylor and Lakisha Brady- Taylor; his twenty three grandchildren and his six great grandchildren, all of Harrisburg, PA and a host of other family relatives and friends. Darryl’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23 at 3;30 PM in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing 2:00 until 3:30 PM.
