Obituary For Irma Jean Copper

“TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON AND A TIME TO EVERY PURPOSE UNDER THE HEAVENS” ECCLESIASTES 3:1 A TIME TO BE BORN: Irma Jean Copper was born to the late Mr. Dan and Rachel Jones of Quitman Georgia, December 1, 1935. She grew up as the youngest child of this union. She had a knack for humor and intuitive feel for fashion and style. She was preceded in death by Mr. Willie James Jones Sr., Mrs. Marlene Jones Ford, Mr. Horace Jones, Ms. Fannie Jones, Ms. Lillie Jones, Mr. Lewis Miller, Mr. Edgar Gardner, and Mr. Carlton Jones.

A TIME TO MARRY: Upon graduation from high school, Irma moved to Sanford Florida where she met and married Mr. Frank Sonny Copper in 1956. They were married until he departed this life June 6, 2008.

A TIME OF SERVICE: Irma joined New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully. New Mount Calvary was known for its magnificent choir, and Irma played a vital role in the success of this choir. She also served on many other auxiliaries in the church. Because of illness, Irma moved home to Quitman Georgia and began to attend The House of God Church Keith Dominion.

A TIME FOR A CAREER: Mrs. Copper was employed by the Museum of History of Seminole County in Sanford Florida as a Curator/Guide for many years.

A TIME TO DEPART: Irma departed this earthy home on April 19, 2022. She leaves to cherish her memories: A loving Sister-in-Law, Mrs. Mary Frances Jones; A loving Stepson, Mr. Larry Dillon; Her Nieces, Ms. Linda Johnson, Ms. Geraldine Demps, A loving caretaker, Mrs. Francena (Robert) Richardson, and Ms. Betty Joe Demps. Her Nephews, Mr. Willie James (Joyce) Jones, Jr., Mr. Carl (Thalia) Jones, Mr. Cecil (Atleatha) Jones, Mr. Wayne (Irene) Ford, A loving caretaker Mr. Reginald Jones, Mr. Tracy (Barbara) Harris, Mr. Frederick (Angela) Jones, Mr. Eddie (Gloria) Ford, Mr. Yewston Jones, Mr. Henry Ford, Mr. Terriss (Shaune) Ford, Mr. Robbie (Tawanna) Christian, Mr. Bobby Christian, Mrs. Lenoris (Albert) Griffin, Mrs. Ann(Terrance) Jones, Mrs. Monica (Darrel) Frazier, Mr. Anthony (Valencia) Holsendolph, Mrs. Nettie (Alex) White, a devoted Great Niece Ms. Sylvia Childs, Ms. Pam Gardner, Ms. Jackie Gardner, Ms. Gloria Gardner, Ms. Bunny Gardner, a God daughter Ms. Gwen Burke, a close choir member Ms. Yvonne Grey, and a host of great nieces, nephews, and caring friends.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 3PM on the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home lawn with Pastor Gloria Wright, eulogist. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery.
