Obituary For Mr. Roy M. Gibson

Farrell A homegoing celebration in honor of Mr Roy M. Gibson will be held Saturday April 30, 2022 at 10am at Greater Mt. Zion COGIC 1825 Roemer Blvd. in Farrell, PA. Mr. Gibson departed this life April 21, 2022 at his residence in Farrell. Roy Milton Gibson was born August 27, 1948, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Willie C. and Willar D. Gibson. He served in the U.S Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Gibson worked for several trucking companies after the war, driving 18-wheelers across The United States. He also worked for Tri County Drywall. He loved to listen to Jazz, R&B soul from the 70’s and Blues music. He loved spending time with his family and could remember things all the way back to his childhood. His family was his most prized possession. His favorite time of the year besides the Super Bowl, was his family reunion gatherings. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan who never forgot a name. To know him, was to love him. Roy M. Gibson departed this life on April 20, 2022, at home with his granddaughter in Farrell, PA. He leaves to cherish his life partner Nettie Custer of Sharon, Pa, two brothers Stephen Gibson Sr. ( Toni) of Sharon, PA, Ray Gibson of Farrell, PA, a sister Virginia Gibson-Thurman (Robert L.) of Farrell, Pa, two daughters Laticka Cleveland of Pittsburg, PA, Donsha Gilbert (Montrell) of New Castle, three grandchildren, LaToya Gibson of Farrell, Pa, Raymond Hubbard of Columbus, Ohio, and Ian Jones of Pittsburgh, PA, two great-grandchildren Jordan’Roy Heath, Farrell, Pa and Ja’Kaylyn Hubbard of Columbus, Ohio, A special father figure to Wanda Neely of Youngstown, Ohio, Keith Scott Sr. of Sharon, Pa, and Keywona Scott of Columbus, Ohio, and a special grandfather to their children, he also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Willie C. and Willar D. Gibson; three sisters Lorethea Chambers, Willye Faye Winchester and Corina Estelle Gibson; a brother Jerry Gibson; a son Roy Milton Hines; a niece Vaughnda Chambers and two nephews, Corey Thurman and Darren Gibson. The family will receive Saturday April 30, 2022 from 9am-10am at the church. Please continue to follow CDC recommendations by wearing a mask and practice social distancing. Interment will be in Morefield Cemetery.
