Obituary For Shirley Appling-Garrison

Ms. Shirley Appling-Garrison of Palatka, FL, entered the sunset of life on April 24, 2022, at Moultrie Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, St Augustine, FL. She was the daughter of Willie (Pap) Aplin and Annie Mae Burgess-Aplin. She was born on Oct 21, 1937. She was educated in the Putnam County School System and a 1954 graduate of Central Academy High School. Ms. Shirley was employed by U. S. Postal Service as a clerk. Ms. Shirley enjoyed spending time with family, cooking and feeding the neighborhood. She loved life and always said, “Live life to the fullest.” She enjoyed watching TV and listening to church music. Ms. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Sons: Larry Dean Kirkland Sr. and Otis Garrison Jr. Grandson: Larry Dean Kirkland Jr. Brothers: Willie James Appling Sr., Johnnie Aplin, Jimmie Aplin, Leolia Aplin, Mionis Appling, Artis Appling Sr., Billy Appling, Andrew Jackson, Henry Aplin and John Nealy. She leaves behind her legacy of love with; Daughter: Sylvia (Rev Ronald) Jones; God Daughter: Michelle Jackson-Session; Like a Daughter: Linda Wesley; Grandchildren: Torianda (Darrell) Stuart Wierzba, Jah Stuart, Dominque Seymour, Tanika (Trey) Clemonts, Karonia Aaron, Jason Ramsey, Erica Jones, Michael Jones, Mario Bryant, Nicholas Kirkland, Monique (Brian) Dasher, Adrienne Yon, Sentonio Yon, Tamicka (Andre) McKinnon, Lamar, Ontario, D’ontrai (Tashaneika) and Khalia (Le’Teran) Garrison; Best Friend: Pam Zanders. Sister– In Laws: Chole Applin and Joyce Appling. A host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends.

The Garrison Family will receive extended family and friends from 5:00p.m-7:00p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at The Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel. The Homegoing Celebration will be 10:00a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Life Center in Palatka, FL. Burial will be in Oak Hill East.
