OBITUARY:

Our beloved Pearl Young Griffin, daughter of the late Geneva Wallace Jones. Pearl made her grand entrance into this world on November 9, 1928 in the small town of Sidon, MS of Leflore County.

She confessed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at very early age.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Booker Griffin in 1962 in the State of Mississippi.

She departed this world and went on home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis, TN.

She was faithful member at Spring Valley M.B Church in Lexington, MS for many years. At Spring Valley she served on the Usher Board. She also held the position of Usher Board President under the leadership of Rev. E.C. Pitchford. She received a Certificate of Recognition for her service and dedication to this position on July 29, 1999. Sometime later she relocated her membership to Union Grove M.B. Church also serving under the leadership of Rev. E.C. Pitchford. At Union Grove she served on the Mother Board and as a Home Missionary Devotion Leader.

She served at Union Grove until her health started to decline in December of 2021, at which time she had to relocate to Memphis, TN to reside with her sister Lillie Lacy. She lived in Tchula, MS for more than thirty years at Delta Manor Apartments, and she also worked for Delta Manor. Ms. Pearl also worked in the domestic capacity for the Waterer Family in Mississippi for several years. The Waterer family has always stayed in contact with her, they remembered her on birthdays, mother's day, as well as all special holiday's.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories two sisters: Lillie Lacy(Memphis, TN) and Geneva Morning(Miami, FL); three brothers: Harper Jones, Jr.(South Carolina); Leonard Jones, (Miami, FL) and Stewart Jones (Miami, FL); one Step-Daughter Mildred Billups(Charles) (Greenwood, MS); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren all of Greenwood, MS. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Jimmy Lee Jones, Fred Jones, Sr., and Hardy Jones; four sisters: Dezree Jones Childress, Louiza Bell, Lenzora Blackmon, and Millie Mae Wiley; and her step-daughter, Vera Green.
