I just could not believe it when my daughter Maria told me about Sgt.Mjr Menzies passing. My heart just dropped to the floor. He was absolutely my daughters favorite teacher as he was mine. Maria had him for a teacher for 4yrs and she just loved his class. My daughter through her years of high school was goin through some personal things in her life and he was always so loving and caring to her and was always there to listen when she needed anything. He was a very kind and wonderful man and i will forever be grateful to him for showing my daughter so much compassion in her difficult time. For always being there if she needed anything when I could not be there for her. He will always hold a spot in my heart. We love you Srg.Mjr. may u rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers to his wife and family.

He always walked with class and you couldn't help but respect him. I know he's reaping the rewards in heaven of his lifetime of selfless giving. I just want to say thank you, and you will forever be in my heart. Love, Carrie Wetherbee

Sgt major was like a parent to every student at Lphs whether they were his or not. He pushed me to do new things I never thought I'd be able to and taught me how to believe in myself. He will forever be a hero in my heart.

I cannot express enough how much of an impact he made as an educator at LPHS. As his student for my time at school, I got to know him and see him as a mentor. Whether he was dancing outside the JROTC doors and telling us about his love of microwaved hot dogs he was always authentic. Had a true open door policy with the desire to help anyone who needed it. I was really caught off guard by this news and it has been 11 years since I graduated and my heart truly aches knowing he is no longer with us. That bond is a testament to his teaching and impact he made. I wish his family the best. Sgt Major was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
