A service honoring his life will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Cathedral of Deliverance Church of God. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am. Interment: Lakeview Memorial Park.
James “Bubu” Devon Goolsby was called home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2022. “Bubu” as he was affectionately known, was a caring grandson, uncle, big brother, and friend.
James was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on September 16, 1983, to the late Octavia Ann Goolsby and James Albert Hope. As the youngest of four children, he was raised by his loving and supportive grandparents, James and Blanche Alston.
James was educated in the Guilford County Public School system. He was a construction worker by trade and did a lot of work providing pet grooming services throughout the community. “Bubu” enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, listening to music, dancing, and riding his ATV with his friends. James was more than happy being the central figure in the lives of his children Donoven Westgard and La’Bria Jaymez Goolsby. He was also a father-figure to his bonus children Samirah LittleJohn, Sagerius Westgard and Vaida Pennix. Everyone knew that James was a star in the eyes of his children and that was all that ever mattered to him.
James is survived by his devoted grandparents, James and Blanche Alston of Greensboro, NC. His two children son, Donoven Westgard of High Point, NC, daughter, La’Bria Jaymez Goolsby of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by two sisters, Nikia Goolsby of Greensboro, NC and Nadashia Lashae Lee of Ahoskie, NC, three brothers, Rashon Goolsby, Nicholas Goolsby, and Kevin Lamont Graham all residing in Greensboro, NC; special cousins, Jovona Pittman, Melissa Pittman, and Candice Scott all residing in Greensboro, NC, and a host of extended family and friends.
