Obituary For Debra Scruggs

Debra Lynn Jenkins Scruggs Debra ¨Debbie¨ Jenkins Scruggs, a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt entered into eternal rest after a valiant fight on Monday, April 25, 2022 at her residence in Clover, SC. She was born on September 1, 1955 in Clover as Franklin D. Jenkins and Mary Sue Gibson Jenkins’ first daughter of four.

Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Clover High School. Debbie was formerly employed in the public education sector and was a certified teaching assistant for 17 years. She also enjoyed working in several local flower shops, creating beautiful arrangements. Debbie loved arts and crafts and shared her gift of crafting as a way to show her love for others. She routinely gifted her creations to her family and friends on birthdays and holidays.

Debbie had an incredible love of music and an uncanny sense of being able to remember songs both old and new, across many different musical genres as well as remembering the name of the artist who created it. She was always the go to person called on in any Name That Tune game!

Debra was a spiritual woman with a strong belief in God. She tried to demonstrate her faith through the life she led especially during her struggle with her health. Although she will be greatly missed, we know where she is and that she is in a better place.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Franklin D. Jenkins and Mary Sue Gibson Jenkins of Clover, SC; her children, Franklin Daniel Scruggs (Tiffany) and Kristy Lynne Scruggs (Travis) both of Clover; grandchildren, Dylan Scruggs, Kiara Scruggs , Aaron Cochran and Jesse Brown; three sisters, Reneé J. McFalls of Gaffney, SC, Melody J. Hamlin (William) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Crystal J. Reece (Wade) of Boonville, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends and family are invited to join in a Celebration of Life in honor of Debbie on May 22, 2022 at 3:00pm at Midway Baptist Church, Clover, SC. Visitation will begin at 2:00 in the church fellowship hall. Private internment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in memory of Debra Jenkins Scruggs to the charity of your choice.

Debbie was a beautiful person inside and out. I know she is not suffering anymore and even though we will miss her terribly, she is smiling at us. Yes it was well with her soul. I will cradle Debbie's memory till I see her again. Hugs to her beautiful family!

I haven't been handing this all to well but Debbie Scruggs was my grandmother. She was like a mother to me and she raised me. We were very close and I will always cherish our memories. I too have a fond love of music and she taught me how to identify every song and artist. I ended up helping take care of her when she was sick, it was hard to witness but it made me happy. I love and miss her more every day that passes by. I will forever feel as if I am missing a piece of myself. ~ Debbie Scruggs' granddaughter(grandson) Kiara Scruggs(also known as Crona)
