On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Ms. Bertha Mae Sherman entered into eternal rest at her residence surrounded by family and friends.

Ms. Bertha Mae Sherman was born on May 30, 1948 in Edgefield, South Carolina to the late Elizabeth Moore. At an early age her family relocated to Augusta, Georgia. Bertha was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for over 30 years, where she served on the Choir.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2526 Lumpkin Road, Augusta with Reverend Chavas Boyd, pastor-officiating. Public viewing will be Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Masks and social distancing required.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Gwendolyn Thomas of Augusta, Georgia; two brothers, Wallace Moore of Atlanta, Georgia and Raymond Moore of Savannah, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Marsha Moore of Savannah, Georgia; three grandchildren, LaTasha Thomas and Porsha Thomas of Augusta, Georgia and Darrin Thomas of Columbia, South Carolina; five great grandchildren, Precious Thomas, Ajeane Washington of Savannah, Georgia, Zy’Kerria Thomas, ZaNiyah Heard and Porshelle Thomas of Augusta, Georgia; one niece, Patricia Bussey of Augusta, Georgia; two step nieces, April Brown, Candid Wilson of Savannah, Georgia; one nephew, Raymond Moore, Jr. and a host of relatives and loving friends.
