Obituary For Rev. Dr. Annie Tucker Alexander

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, June 18, 2022 Time: 3PM - 6PM at 210 N. Brunswick Avenue, South Hill, VA 23970

REVEREND DR. ANNIE HELLEN TUCKER ALEXANDER, daughter of the late Barkus Tommy Tucker, Sr. and the late Helen Cornelia Carter Tucker was born December 20, 1957 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life SUDDENLY April 26, 2022 VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. She was preceded in death by her two daughters- Joyce and Joan Alexander and three of her siblings-Barbara Ann Tucker Williams, Sylvia LaVern Tucker and Elizabeth Irene Brackett; a brother-in-law, Clarence Moore.

At an early age she was baptized and joined Lands Chapel RZUA Church.

Annie attended the Shiloh School, West End High School and later received her GED. She continued her education by receiving a certificate as LPN from Southside Virginia Community College. She did not stop there she received her Doctorate Degree from Liberty University School of Divinity, Lynchburg, VA.

On April 9, 1972 she was married to Richard Edmond Alexander.

She later became Associate Pastor of Lands Chapel RZUA Church, Boydton, VA.

Annie was employed as a registered Nurse at Duke Medical Center where she was Nurse Manager of Neuro and Spinal Cord Floor until her retirement.

She pushed her children and grandchildren to “Do better than me and your Daddy and live a legacy for the next generation.”

Annie leaves to cherish her memory is her devoted husband- Richard Edmond Alexander of the home; five children- Lynette Tucker Finn, Petersburg, VA; Hope Annette Alexander, Boydton, VA; Richard Ladd Alexander, Clarksville, VA; Dereck Skyler Alexander, South Hill, VA and Kenneth (Nicole) Payne, Richmond, VA; grandchildren she reared as her own- Ebonie Rochelle Finn (Edward “Wardo”) Harris, Cristofer Elija, Tomas Winters, Jayden Elija, Scott Alexander, Jayla Mone’ Alexander (James “Jay” Mayfield), Daniel Scott Alexander (Brook Beasley), Onyx Kira Finn, Kamden Marcus Alexander, Kadin Henry Shaw, Rena Hope Braxton, and Chyna Helene Braxton; great-grandchildren- Logan Mehkai Pinckney, Ashton Jamir Pinckney, Hailey Williams, and Ja’Nia Ragsdale; siblings- Thelma Moore, Betty (Gregory) Hunt, Charles (Carrie) Tucker, and Barkus (Connie) Tucker, Jr.; adoptive parents- Reverend & Mrs. Lovely Moore; special close and dear friends-Paul Gregory Braxton, Sr., Richard Randolph “Roundtree” Woody, Boaz, Inspector David Lee Baisey, Derrick Pearson, Ben Harris, Jamie Thomas, Tim Sally, C.W. Wootten, Clayton (Wendy) Wootten, Gary Alexander, LaDonte (Angel) Hawkes and Family, Corporal Neil Clayton, Lieutenant Marlon Alexander, Cliff Preddy, Austin Puryear, Tyler Ashworth, Nutrien Agriculture Solutions, PATHS Medical Center and Pharmacy and Dr. Susan Hundley, Retired Captain Roosevelt Terry, Boydton Life Station, and the entire town of Boydton, VA, Palmer Springs Fire Department, and a host of Aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.

As Reverend Dr. Annie Hellen Tucker Alexander would say—“I’m just a Servant, trying to make it in.”

I just want a portion of your strength, wisdom, patience, faith and knowledge. I will do my best to take care of Diddy and the boys. I love you so much.
