Mr. Derrick “Big D” Hopper passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022. He was born on May 21, 1963 to James and Doris Hopper.

Derrick graduated from Crest High School in 1981 and received a degree in Body Shop, Welding. Derrick joined Shoal Creek Baptist Church at an early age where he sang on the youth choir and was a Boy Scout. Derrick loved his family especially his grandchildren. He also loved to cook, garden and listen to music.

Derrick was a dedicated employee of Pruitt Health and was a friend to many of his coworkers.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Mac and Elizabeth Morgan, John and Lenora Allison and Cofford and Annie Hopper and a very special aunt, Charlene Morgan Ross.

He leaves to cherish his memory to his wife, Emma Hopper of Aiken, SC; his parents, James and Doris Hopper of Shelby, NC; three daughters, Precious Mona Jackson (Elvonta) of Allendale, SC, Tracey Ross of Shelby and Precious Scott of Augusta, GA; seven sons, Patrick Hopper of Kings Mountain, NC, Santez Hopper (Laquandra) of TX, Jarius Hopper, New Ellenton, SC, Kwane Hopper (Penelope) of Gaffney, SC, Gerard Ross and Dana Ross both of Shelby, Adrian Raiford (Melissa) and Darryll Raiford both of Aiken, SC; a very special sister, Tammy Hopper of Shelby; God-Mother,, Janiec Morgan; two special brothers, Eugene Leach and Gary Watkins and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
