Carolyn was born on June 22, 1949 in Leake County, Jones Chapel Community, Carthage, MS. She was the eleventh child of twelve children born to the late Harrison Momon, Sr. and Pearlie Morgan Momon.
Carolyn's parents named her after an actress who acted on Pepper Young's Family which was a daytime radio story long before anyone had a television.
She professed her faith in Jesus Christ in the earlier years o0f her life and joined Jones Chapel M.B. Church. She loved attending and being a part of the church.
Carolyn attended Jones Chapel Elementary School in Carthage, MS. She graduated valedictorian of her class in 1967 at Murphy High School in Walnut Grove, MS. She attended Mississippi Valley State University and The University of Southern Mississippi. She also obtained dean status through her Christian Education Studies. Her teaching career began at T.L. Weston High in Greenville, MS where she completed her student teaching. Carolyn landed her first job at Greenville High School in November 1971. The following school year August 1972, she was hired as a Title 1 Language Arts teacher at Carthage Junior High School. Later, she taught English, reading, and mathematics to migrant students in Greene County in 1982. She taught English at State Line High School in 1986. The following year Carolyn taught English at Heidelberg High School in 1987. Finally, she taught English to special education students at Greene County High School from 1989-1993.
She had many honors of Awards from the Leake County Association of Educator that included the Human Relations Award and the Leake County NAACP Service Award. She also published poetry in various anthologies such as Reflections in Poetry: A Glimpe Inside, American Poetry 1988, Diamonds and Rust 1989, and Best of New Poets 1988.
Carolyn met the love of her life and was united in holy matrimony to9 Richard Elijah "Pop" Hardy.
Carolyn gained her golden wings and transitioned this life on Friday, April 22, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, and sisters; Henry T. Momon, Wesley C. Momon, John D. Momon, Hoover K. Momon, and Grace Momon McCoy.
She leaves to cherish her external memories; Four brothers; Grady C. Momon of Meridian, MS, Harrison L. Momon Jr. (Marie) of Rock Island, Il, Waymond O. Momon of Andalusia, IL and Fidel Castro Momon, of Carthage, MS. Two sisters: Florine Momon Hopkins, of Carthage, MS and Evon Momon Reeves of East St. Louis, IL.MS> A God son; Javon Griffin o9f Carthage, MS.
Two sisters-in-law; Rebecca Momon of Rock Island, IL and Mozelle Momon of Edisto Island, SC. Her college r4oommates and special friends; Bobbie Ruth Owens and Polly Jackson of Carthage, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carolyn was always a blessing to her family and a joy to be around. She will be missed tremendously by the genuine love that she gave, her gorgeous smile and warm spirit.
