Obituary For Portia Sanders

Portia Laurie Sanders was born to the late Katie Sanders and James Williams, December 13, 1958, in Jackson, Mississippi.

She attended Cansler Elementary School and Sertoma Learning Center. While at Sertoma, she was on the dance and basketball teams. Portia had a witty sense of humor and was a caring and hard worker. She attended and was a member of Rogers Memorial Baptist Church.

She passed May 7, 2022, at the Sertoma Love Home in Knoxville, Tennessee, with her family and caregivers by her side. Portia leaves to cherish her memory: Sister, Mary (Ambros) Kirk, brother, Calvin (Mary) Sanders, brother, Cleophus Sanders and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank the caring staff of the Labor of Love Home and Seroma Learning Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sertoma Learning Center 1400 E. Fifth Ave Knoxville, Tennessee 37917.

A Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Sherwood Memorial Gardens 3176 Airport Highway Alcoa, TN 37701 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. A.D. Baxter officiating. A dove release will conclude in her honor.

Ms. Sanders will lie in state on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from1-5:00 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel. Unity Mortuary is honored to serve this family. wwwunitymortuary1979.com
