Obituary For Rev. Haywood Bellamy, Sr.

Rev. Haywood Bellamy, Sr., 76, of Seale, AL passed Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, Monday, May 23, 2022 at St. John A.M.E Church, Ft. Mitchell, AL with Pastor Samuel Smith, officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.

Rev. Haywood Bellamy, Sr. was born in Russell County, AL to Acie Bellamy, Sr. and Mattie Bellamy on November 10, 1945. He attended the Russell County School Systems. He made the commitment to serve the Lord at an early age; was baptized and joined St. Peter A.M.E. Church, Seale, AL and was employed by Columbus Carpet Mills, Columbus, GA for 30 years.

Rev. Bellamy received his call to preach the gospel in 1984 and was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. During his active preaching ministry, which covered a span of 25+ years, Rev. Bellamy served the following charges in the Northeast Alabama Annual Conference; Hurst Chapel A.M.E. Church, Pittsview, AL, Peace and Goodwill A.M.E. Church, Crawford, AL, Pleasnt Grove A.M.E. Church, Seale, AL and St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Lanet, AL. He retired from active ministry in 2010. . Rev. Bellamy was preceded in death by one son, Haywood Bellamy, Jr.; one brother, Lucious Shakespeare and three sisters, Jeanie Mae Robinson, Iccie Lee Dotson and Alice Lee.

Those who are yet alive and will get to share the wonderful and precious memories of the life of Rev. Haywood Bellamy, Sr. include his loving and dedicated wife, Amanda Bellamy; one daughter, Mary L. Bellamy; two sons, Felix Bellamy and Randy Bellamy all of Seale, AL; two brothers, R. C. Bellamy (Audrey) of Detroit, MI and Acie Bellamy Jr. of Atlanta, GA and a host of other relatives, friends and fellow clergy.
