Obituary For McKinley Lewis Henry, Sr.

Mr. McKinley Lewis Henry, Sr., 93, of Phenix City, AL passed Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST Saturday, May 28, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Timothy Reynolds, officiating. Interment to follow in Edmond Cemetery, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Friday, May 27, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. EST.

McKinley Lewis Henry, Sr. was born December 22, 1928 in Cottonton, AL to the late Rev. M.C. Henry and the late Bertha Lee Denson Henry.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Ree Hill and they were blessed with three children. Later in life he remarried the late Rosa Persons, where they resided in Cottonton, AL and blessed with six children.

He is preceded in death by his wives and one daughter, Vernell Guinn.

McKinley accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Cottonton, AL where he was a dedicated member and served faithfully as a Deacon. He was truly an inspiration to his family, church family and so many others always giving good advice and words of wisdom. McKinley was a hard worker, employed as a mechanic at Bill Heard Chevrolet in Columbus, GA., for many years until his retirement. After retiring he started his own business in Cottonton, AL, where he was the owner and operator of Henry's Garage and Cafe until some years later he relocated to Phenix City, AL.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories 13 children; Johnny Henry (Marilyn) Katy,TX, McKinley Henry, Jr. (Betty) Moreno Valley, CA, Tricia Daniel (Frank) Pittsview, AL, Belinda Bolden (Jerry) Cottonton, AL, Letha Madison, Lawrenceville, GA, Sherman Henry, Cottonton, AL, Antonio Henry, Phenix City, AL, Bruce Persons, Columbus, GA, James English (Carolyn) Columbus, GA, Kimberly Marshall (Elisha) Atlanta, GA, Debra Thompson (Lionel) Tallahassee, FL, Bertha Walker, Escondido, CA, Macy Chappell (John) Cincinnati, OH; son-in-law, Cecil Guinn of San Antonio, TX and a great host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
