Obituary For Sis. Mattie Lee Perry

Sis. Mattie Lee Perry, 95, of Smiths Station, AL passed Monday, May 16, 2022 in Smiths Station, AL.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Smiths Station, AL with Rev. Jeffery McCauley, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. EST.

Sis. Mattie L. Perry was born March 15, 1927 in Lee County, AL to the late Ivory Mitchell and the late Gennie McCall-Mitchell.

She was baptized at an early age and became a member of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Motts, AL, there she served faithfully until she united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Smiths Station, AL. There at Mt. Olive she served for many years on the Deacon Wives Ministry, Ushers Ministry and also a devoted member of the Missionary Society until her health began to fail.

Sis. Perry departed this life on Monday, May 16, 2022 at her residence in Smiths Station, AL.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bennie Perry of 54 years; son, Winifred Perry; grandsons, Michael White and Corey James; brothers, Anderson, Sr. and A.C.; sisters, Lucille, Annie Ruth, Mary, Jean Ester, Virginia, Dessie and Sarah.

Sis. Perry leaves to cherish her many memories, two sons, Melvin (Min. Earnestine) Perry, and Bruce (Gloria) Perry both of Smiths Station, AL; four daughters, Min. Grace (Min. Raymond) Poles, Nadine (Lamar) Holmes and Brenda (Levy) James all of Smiths Station, AL and Bernice (Larry) White of New Castle, DE; one sister, Ira Sims; two sisters-in-law, Olivia Heard and Lois Guinn; two brothers-in-law, Harold Abrams and Edward Perry; 12 grandchildren, Johnnie B. Jr., John G., Tomika, Kelvin, Anesha, SheKiese, Joshua, Bruce Daniel, Beahunja, Nylan, Levy Jr. and James; seven great grandchildren, Jayden, Jordan, Jade, Raechal, Nigyl, Tramaya and Tralaya and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
