Deacon Robinson was born in Phenix City, Alabama on February 16, 1931. He was the eldest of eight children of the late Harrison Perry and the late Pearlie Collins & Jack Robinson.

Deacon Robinson was united in Holy Matrimony to Gearldean Robinson on May 30, 1953. They shared a cherished “agape” love for nearly 67 years. God blessed their union and sacred love with three children (Gloria, Ernest, and Christopher).

Deacon Robinson loved to praise the Lord in prayer and hymns. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. He was a Deacon in thought, word and deed. Deacon Robinson was fondly called “Mr. Mt. Olive,” because of his love of the church & willingness to serve as a Deacon and Trustee Member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Smith Station, AL, and former Deacon & Trustee at Southern Missionary Baptist Church, SYR, NY.

Deacon Robinson lived his love for Christ every day! Because, in his words, “I’d rather see a sermon than hear one, any day.” Deacon Robinson was and shall remain the epitome of the “Classic Gentleman” a sermon-well lived…in his dress, approach to life, mannerisms, especially how he loved and cared for his wife, “Sweetie,” his children, grandchildren, his “law,” family and his Mt. Olive/Church.

Deacon Robinson, “the classic gentleman” was always ready, before being asked, to provide for his wife, family, friends and community. The classic gentleman, dad and granddaddy was always willing to spend time teaching, driving, fishing, watching and traveling to games.

Deacon Robinson received an Honorable Discharged from the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired in 1995 as a Facilities Engineer with Crouse Hinds-Cooper Industries in Syracuse, New York. Since Sweetie’s passing, he loved spending time with his children, “Sweetie’s” grave and going out to eat with the Pastor & deacons. He loved “riding the Deer” lawnmower, praying, singing gospel and old hymns.

Deacon Robinson always had a good story to share, to make you laugh. And, when asked how did he feel? He never complained. He would always, say, “I feel great,” until he became ill on April 30th.

Deacon Robinson is preceded in death by his parents, Pearlie Collins Robinson and Jack Robinson and father Harrison Perry; wife Gearldean Robinson; siblings, Dorotha Perry, Lena Pearl Robinson, James Robinson, Joann Lewis and Elvira Brundidge.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Gloria A. Robinson, Ernest (Thomasine) Robinson and Christopher Robinson; adopted daughter, Janice (Ronald) Thomas; grandchildren, Raynell Proctor and Melaquan A. (Erica) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Maria Mercedes Proctor and Carter Ahmad Robinson; siblings and in-laws, Mary Jean Barr, Richard Robinson, Sarah Lee Ward; Clemmie Brundidge, Edward & Linda Peabody; Eddie (Violet) Peabody, Minnie (Ronald) Walker, and Willie (Annittie) Peabody; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
