He was a former Pastor in Savannah, GA and member of New River Worship Center. He was a U. S. Army veteran, former firefighter and Life Member of the Delaware City, DE Fire Company where he also served on the Board of Directors. He was a loving and devoted husband for 52 years and a wonderful and proud father and doting grandfather. The only thing he loved more than his family was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Poppe in March; and his brothers, Waldemar W. Poppe, Sr. (Reds), William Poppe, Sr., Adolph Poppe, Jr., and Alan Poppe (Ethel).
