At the age of four Neal met Robert Flack; a man that stepped in and embraced him with open arms. Robert taught Neal how to be “ one of a kind “ and a jack – of - all –trades. Their special bond continued throughout the years.
In his preschool years, Neal would be so excited to break every toy that he and Quita had. First he would look at something and say I am going to break it; just to repair it. And then he would say “I fixed it.”
In his childhood years, he attended Shiloh AME Zion Church. Neal was educated in the Cleveland County School System and Schenck Job Corp Civilian Conservation Center in Pisgah Forest, NC; where he earned his GED. Job Corp(s) program helped him develop the countless gifts that he had been given which then led him to becoming a very meticulous person in every single detail.
Neal was very family oriented. He loved his mother and granny dearly as well as his sisters and nieces. He not only took on the role but embraced being a big brother and uncle to them. He also loved wearing hats and had an array of them that he wore confidently with style and flare.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Waddell and Anita Brown Robinson.
He leaves cherished and precious memories to his parents, Angela Curry-Marable (Eric) of Grover, NC and Charles Brown (Tracy) of Garfield, NJ; his children, Hayden Curry of Gastonia, NC, Shakyra Curry of Shelby, NC, Zyrmia “Gracie” Hopper of the home and Neveah Curry of Gastonia, NC; siblings, LeQuita Curry (Montra) of Gastonia, NC, Anquanita Brown of Kings Mountain, NC and Rashaan Brown of Shelby, NC; a grandson, Honor Curry of Gastonia; grandparents, Nevada Curry of the home, Jack Jeffries (Brenda) of Danville, VA and Charles Greene (Maxine) of Gainesville, FL; step-siblings, Rashidah Flack, Derrick Marable, Alexis Potts all of Kings Mountain, NC, Xavier Hutchens of Lowell, NC, Paul Bonilla, Jasin Penn and Jada Penn all of Garfield, NJ; nieces, Madison Cole, Kennedy Cole, DeAsia Cole, Leoina Surratt and Genesis Smith; nephew, Raven Laboy; a special girlfriend, Monique “Mo” Williams of Kings Mountain, NC; special uncles, Jimmy Brown of Gastonia, Jack Jeffries, Jr. of Denver, CO; special aunt, LeQuita Jeffries of Bowie, MD and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
