Obituary For Tonya Lauria Thompson

Tonya Lauria Thompson was born in Durham, North Carolina on June 11, 1959 to Willie Thompson and Mabel Williams.

Tonya entered eternal rest on May 20th, 2022 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ after a long battle with cancer.

As a child, she moved with her parents from Durham, NC to Long Branch, NJ. She spent many summers with her grandparents in Durham. Her grandparents regularly brought her to church, and it was during one of these visits that she would accept Christ at an early age. She graduated from Long Branch High School in 1977 and in 1981, she graduated from Brookdale Community College with an associate of arts degree. Shortly after, she began working at Fort Monmouth, NJ until her retirement in 2011.

She often loved to travel to North Carolina, especially for family gatherings and reunions. She liked shopping and browsing at flea markets for “deals”. She was a loving and supportive mother, attending her son’s many collegiate activities at Stockton University. Also, she liked to keep in touch with family and friends through Facebook. Tonya is survived by her son Nathaniel Bolden; father Willie Thompson; mother Mabel Thompson, all of Long Branch, NJ; two sisters Sherri Young and Shonda McLeod of Fayetteville, NC; her granddaughter Lailah Bolden of Blackwood, NJ; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and extended family.

Visitation and Funeral services will be held at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, 2502 NC Hwy 55, on Friday, June 3, 2022, visitation with friends from 10:00 to 12:00 PM, funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will be held at Rogers Family Cemetery.

Masks are to be worn and social distancing required at all meetings with family and friends.

All acts of kindness are appreciated during this difficult time.
