Obituary For Jesse Levoy Greenlee, Sr.

Jesse Levoy Greenlee was born on October 28, 1929, Ethel, MS. He was one of seven buys born to the union of Otho T. Greenlee and Ida B. Greenlee (formerly Ida B. Ashford). Jesse attended school in Kosciusko, MS. In pursuit of more opportunities, Jesse moved up North to Milwaukee, WI. Jesse loved Christ and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee, WI.

Jesse married the love of his life, Vera Mae Dodd on October 30, 1960, and to this union four extraordinary children were born.

Jesse was a hardworking auto mechanic and dedicated employee for Allis Chalmers until he retired. After retirement, his love of the south lead him to move back to Kosciusko, MS. Jesse was a "straight shooter" he said what he meant and meant what he said. He was a proud man and was well respected. He was strong, determined, and strong-willed but he was also warmhearted. Jesse was a born-fixer and good with his hands. He never met a tool or piece of equipment that he claimed he could not fix and (as his wife watched in dismay) he would bring it home to work on it. Jesse enjoyed gardening and whether in Milwaukee or Kosciusko, with one look, you could see his gardening skills were exceptional. He will be fondly remembered for his dedication and love for his family, church, friends, valuable lessons, gardening, and remarkable memory. We are truly blessed to have called him dad, Jack, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend!

Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, Otho T. Greenlee and Ida B. Greenlee; wife Vera Mae Greenlee; brothers: Talmadge Greenlee, James V. Greenlee, Lenard R. Greenlee, Renard L. Greenlee, Pearl S. Greenlee; sons: Jerry L. Greenlee, Gerald A. Greenlee; great grandchild: Laryah Jean Cooper.

Jesse leaves to cherish his loving memory: siblings: brother, Floyd Greenlee of Chula Visa, CA; sister-in-law, Clara Greenlee of Milwaukee, WI; children: two sons, James Greenlee of Kosciusko, MS and Jesse Greenlee (Carla) of Brown Deer, WI; a daughter Verann Greenlee (Michael Allen) of Austell, GA; a daughter-in-law, Erma Jean Greenlee; grandchildren: Darnell Johnson (Jemina), Tawanda Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Eric Newell, La-Toya Newell (Brandon Cegars), James Greenlee Jr. and Ta-Tonna Greenlee of Milwaukee, WI; Jalen Greenlee and Justin Greenlee of Brown Deer, WI; and great grandchildren: De'ja Johnson, Jaden Johnson, Mackenzie Xiong, Jarvis Nash, Eriana Newell, Brilyn Cegars, Lance Cooper, Bryce Newell, Eric Newell and Riley Newell of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family .
