Obituary For James Carthen

Carthen, Mr. James, A resident of Montgomery, AL departed this life on Monday, May 30, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from Phillips-Riley Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Henry Carnegie Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama National Cemetery on Monday, June 6, 2022.

Mr. Carthen will lie in state on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 1-8PM at Phillips-Riley Funeral Home.

NOTICE: Please be mindful that the State of Alabama and the CDC have advised that we limit gatherings and that individuals who are ill and or are at-risk ( e.g., elderly, immune-compromised) should be encouraged to stay home. Social Distancing Practices will be observed during the visitation and service.

James became a part of our WM family many years ago. He was such a blessing to have in our presence. We are going to miss him terribly. Rest in peace James.

James is my first cousin, we haven't seen each other in 40 plus year. I had an opportunity to speak with him last month. We talked about the time we spent at our grandparents home,in Greenville. He always called me Skeet and I called him Little man.Rest cousin ❣️
