It is with a sorrowful heart that the Staff and management of Harrington Funeral Home Inc; on behalf of The Butler Family make the following announcement:

Mr. Richard “Goldie” Butler of Valdosta Georgia, passed from this walk of Life at the age of 73 on Wednesday, June 01, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving family who will miss him dearly.

Richard “Goldie” Butler was born on September 6, 1948, in Hackensack, New Jersey to Robert and Winona Butler. He attended Nanuet High School and later went to serve in the United States Marine Corps and was an active member at the Amvets Post 607. He is a member of the Ramapough Lenape Nation and was gifted the name “Wind Talker Dennison”.

Richard was an entrepreneur owning a successful lawn care and tire business. His hobbies included golf and pool where he won several tournaments in across Georgia, and South Carolina. Richard was known for his generosity and fashion.

Richard was preceded in death by his Mother: Winona Dennison-Butler; Father: Robert Butler Sr.; Brothers: Jerald Butler, and LeRoy Dennison; Sister: Elaine Matthew. Richard Butler leaves to cherish his memories and legacy his loving and devoted wife: Mayda Stoney-Butler; his Children: Goldie Butler Jr. (Lili) of Dasher, Ga., Telli Butler (Orlando) of Anaheim, Ca., Muhammad Butler of Snellville, Ga., Richard Butler Jr. of Valdosta, Ga., Latoya Sorrell (Derek) of Riverview, Fl., Demetria Walker (Joseph) of Rex, Ga., Tina Butler (Ace) of Valdosta, Ga, Kelly Moore of Valdosta, Ga., Octaviues Copeland of Valdosta, Ga ; Siblings: Robert Butler (Eula), Marcia Butler-Joyner, Majorie Butler, Nina Butler, John Butler (Alma), Timothy Butler, Terry Butler (Terry), Donald Butler (Judith); 21 grandchildren: sisters-in-law: Angel McMillian (Cecil), Amy Murray; brothers-in-law: Godfrey Stoney (Veronica), Sherman Stoney (Loretta), Alphonso Stoney, Ronnie Stoney (Valerie) all of Valdosta, Ga., George Stoney (Vangie) of Tallahassee, Fl.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, his special friend and dog: Rocky Butler.

Life Celebration and Interment Services will take place from the Antioch Cemetery - 4099 Antioch Cemetery Road, on Tuesday, June 07, 2022 at 10:00 AM.

Final Care and Compassionate Services are being provided by Harrington Funeral Home Inc.
