Tommie William Russell was born on June 19, 1960, to the late Mary Ann Russell. He graduated from Bluestone Senior High School in 1978. Tommie was certified by The American Taekwondo Association as a First Degree Black Belt in 1987. He was employed with Burlington Industries for over 10 years. He later continued his education at Southside Virginia Community College and completed the Master Electrician Certification. He was employed with Jones Electric until his health declined. Tommie was an active member of The Kingdom Hall. He loved antique cars, food, and was a quiet and very intelligent man. He has biological cousins raised as siblings. Tommie leaves to cherish his memory his siblings; Odell Petty, Andrew Boswell, Debra Richardson, and Mary (Robert) Toombs. His nephew and nieces; Jerrell Boswell, Tenesha (Ryan) Shelton, Jerkesha Petty, and Tiffanny Jones. His faithful friends included Homer Dailey, Ellis Downey, Randy Coles, Jerome (Patricia) Watson, Jim White, and other devoted friends and family. There will be a private family gathering. The family would like to thank Officer Wendy Wootton and Corporal Watts, Fresenius Kidney Care, Mecklenburg Emergency Services, Carter's Funeral Home, and those who sent condolences.
