Celebrating the life and journey of JOHN DANIEL WHITE.

John Daniel White was born March 7,1947 and went to his eternal rest on June 6, 2022, after a brief illness. He was the youngest child of the late Margaret and Joe White of Aulander, NC. John, affectionately known as “JD”, attended John B. Bond High School in Bertie County until it was consolidated with Southwestern High School, where he graduated in 1965. After graduation, he attended North Carolina A&T State University where he earned a BA degree in 1970.

In December 2021, he celebrated becoming a Golden Aggie, celebrating 51 years since his graduation. He participated in the fanfare and was very proud to witness this milestone in his life. JD knew God and accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior early in life. He was baptized at New Bethany Baptist Church in Harrellsville, NC where he served in many youth activities until he left to attend college. After graduating from college, he joined Providence Baptist Church where he was a member until his passing. He served Providence as a church teller and an usher for many years. The Sunday before his illness, May 15, 2022, he attended church at Providence and was so happy that he was able to be back in the house of The Lord after not being able to come due to the Pandemic. Professionally, John worked for United Parcel Service as a package car driver for over 37 years. He earned many distinctions for customer service & safe driving while working at UPS. Earning a place in the coveted “Circle of Honor”, which is awarded to drivers who have 25 years or more in accident-free service, was very dear to his heart.

After his retirement from UPS in 2009, JD then worked part time for Mercedes Benz of Greensboro for about 6 years which gave him the opportunity to work with the car brand that captured his heart as a young adult. His affiliations included being a member of C.W. Lawrence Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and a lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Greensboro Alumni Chapter) where he was initiated in the Fall of 1989. JD was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest brother Joseph White, brothers Clarence White and a “special brother” Joe Lee and nephew Joseph Leroy White. JD leaves to cherish his memory: loving daughter Jackie, loving son John, II (Lindsay) and one grandson John, III “Jack” all of Greensboro, NC; seven sisters: Mollie Hurd, Aulander NC; Margaret Artis (Rudolph) and Laura Celestine Artis, Greensboro; Jean Cherry and Dorothy Peterson (James), Hampton VA; Barbara Jackson (James), Salisbury, MD; and Constance Richardson (John) Aulander, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

On Monday, June 13,2022 a viewing will be held from 4PM - 6PM in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel at Brown's Funeral Home.

A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 12 noon at Providence Baptist Church, 1106 Tuscaloosa St., Greensboro, NC 27406. Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM.
