On Tuesday, June 7, 2022,William Taliaferrio Sears entered eternal rest to be with his Lord as he would continue his love and praise to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternity.“To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.” 2ndCorinthians 5:8. (KJV). William T. Sears was born on July 1, 1981, in Spartanburg, SC to the loving parents of Claude and Doris Sears, Sr. He was the husband of Vajaya Smith Sears. William was the loving birth father of two daughters, Taliyah Nicole Sears of Roebuck, SC and Anistyn Gabrielle Lewis of Lyman, SC. In addition, his love for children extended to one son, Malik Smith and one daughter, Breasja J. Smith-Brawner through the marriage of Vajaya Smith Sears of Roebuck, SC. William’s spiritual journey began with his paternal grandfather, Rev. B. T. Sears, Sr. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC. He was a resolute member of the BTSears Sunshine Choir, Junior and Youth Choir, and the Boy Scouts Troop #295Cornerstone Baptist Church. He loved Sunday School and the Youth Council. He was steadfast in his love for Jesus Christ. At which time on his journey,William remained faithful and humble to his work in the church at Bountiful Blessings Church in Spartanburg, SC. His love for ministering to others grew.If you ever met William (Chill Will), he would leave you with a thought, a scripture quote and blessing with a prayer and a “SEE YA, LUV YA” which became his trademark for life. He was a fun and delightful person with a big SMILE. He was a 1999 graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended Greenville Technical School majoring in Auto Mechanics. William participated in the 1999 Piedmont Assembly Beautillion of Spartanburg, SC. He was so energetic that at age 12, he got his first job at YMCA. William was a former employee at the United Parcel Service (UPS) of the Spartanburg, SC area. One of his gifted talents and skills,as self-employed, was serving as a skilled craftsman in areas which most people his age avoided. He was immensely proud of his finished work/ product sharing that big Smile. William Taliaferro Sears leaves wonderful memories for his family of Christian believers to cherish, most notably his parents, wife, and children. Also, his loving devoted brother, Claude C. (Niki) Sears, Jr. of Simpsonville, SC; Uncles, Rev. Dr. B.T Sears, Jr. of Hackensack, NJ and AlvinLong of Columbia, SC; Aunts Barbara (Ausker) Morris of Marietta, GA, Dollie K. Ellis of Washington, DC, Maggie S. Johnson and Brenda C. Knuckles Foster of Spartanburg, SC; Two nieces, Syndey J. Sears and Victoria L. Sears and one nephew, Joshua B. Sears of Simpsonville, SC and Mother-in-Law Marilyn Smith. William’s paternal grandparents, Rev. Dr. Booker Taliaferrio and Maggie Sears, Sr.; and maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Nancy Fowler Knuckles preceded him in death. Also, preceded in death is Mr. Barnard Smith, Father-in-Law. To forever cherish William’s journey are a host of loving cousins and friends who will always have memories in the homestead, 307 Strong and special friends from days gone by Phillip Burney, Bennie Ballenger and Genora Lewis William of Spartanburg, SC and Travis Gilliam of Washington, DC.
Services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 700 S. Converse St, Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2256 Cannons Campground Rd., Drayton, SC.
