Obituary For Willie B. Hammond, Sr.

Willie B. Hammond was born September 27, 1935, in Newington, Georgia, to the late George and Annie Joy Hammond.

He gracefully departed this life on Monday morning, June 6, 2022, at his home with his wife and only son by his side. Willie B. was married to his wife Maggie Lee Hammond, for sixty-six wonderful years.

Willie B. had a passion for lawn care, he started his own business cutting and caring for several yards around St. Lucie County. He was employed with Prosegur Security for 27 years, retired in 2021. He was a lifelong member of Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Clarence Ingram, serving on the Usher Board and any other capacity as needed. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grand-father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend to all who knew him.

Willie B. was preceded in death by four sisters Victoria Reynolds, Ruby Green, Minnie Lee Sheppard, and Rose Lee Hammond, and four brothers, Carey Hammond, Robert (RJ) Hammond, Roy Charles (Roy C) Hammond and Earnest (Sonny) Hammond and grandson Willie B. Hammond III.

Those left to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted Wife: Maggie Lee Hammond Son: Willie B. Hammond Jr. Sister: Lessie Mae (McKinley) Anderson of Ft. Lauderdale Brother: Jack (Mary) Hammond of Salinas, CA, Granddaughters: Decreta Meely-Hammond (Michael Grant) of Fort Pierce, LaTonya (Darryl)Hammond Counts of Miami, Florida Great Grandchildren: Anthony Meely Jr., Caleb Hammond, De’Jah Meely, Darius Counts Special Cousin: Horace Bedford and a host of Family and Friends who will miss him dearly.

Public visitation for Willie B. Hammond, Sr. will take place on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 3:00pm. Burial will immediately follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID-19 have been relaxed, we at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff.
