After the death of her mother Rosa, she was reared by her Aunt Zemma and Uncle Willie Floyd Crawford, Sr. along with her grandmother Mattie Whitehead Watson. Willie and Zemma Crawford raised her as their own along with their other 9 children. This union gave Lottie, an only child, a large family to grow up in with sisters and brothers. Aunt Lottie, (as she was fondly called by everyone) joined the China Grove Baptist Church at an early age. Lottie was a graduate of Henderson High School in Jackson, GA. She relocated to Atlanta, GA and attended Apex Beauty College and Georgia State University. She was a beautician in Butts and Fulton counties. She had a loyal following in each location. She was also employed by the Atlanta Public School System as a librarian assistant for many years. While in Atlanta, she joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend E.D. Thomas. She served faithfully at Beulah until relocating back home to Flovilla, GA where she rededicated her service and tenure at China Grove Baptist Church. Aunt Lottie served in the finance department, kitchen committee, and was a faithful Sunday school attendant. She also served faithfully as a church clerk and choir member. She was admirably selected to receive a certificate of award in recognition of achievement for working in the ministry given at China Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Collus G. Watson on June 26, 2016. She also accepted a position as a teacher’s aide with Butts County Public Schools until she retired. Once again, she made her mark as a servant and made many lasting relationships. After her retirement, she did some traveling that she thoroughly enjoyed. She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters; Janice Thomas and Sheila Turner (Keith); two sons; Willie Sheppard and Michael Sheppard (Debbie), along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Fannie Bolton, Ella R. Allen (Joe), and Lurlean Watts; one brother, Deacon Sims Crawford, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
