LONNIE DESMOINES CHISM, 59, peacefully transitioned into eternal life on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, PA.

He was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late Samuel Ford and the late Shirley Chism.

Lonnie received his formal education in the Harrisburg School District. During his working career, he was an employee of The Harrisburg Parking Authority for 15 years and then became an employee of the Commonwealth of PA in the Department of General Services for five years until his health caused him to retire.

Having accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ, Lonnie loved to attend services.

Lonnie gave his unconditional love to his wife, kids and grand kids and they always came first.

In his leisure, he loved his music and was an avid Washington Redskins and Lakers Fan.

In addition to his parents, his son, Lionel Burnett; three of his brothers, Samuel Ford, Eddie Chism and John Chism and two of his sisters, Barbara Ford and Brenda Thompson preceded him in death. Lonnie leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish memories, his wife, Barbara Chism (with memories of 48 years because they became friends at Hamilton Elementary School); his three children, Barry, Betty and Londa Burnett, all of Harrisburg, PA; his two sisters, Shirley Chism of Hershey, PA and Diane Valintine (Brian); his brother, Robert Chism; his aunt, Norma Lee Chism; his devoted mother-in-law, Betty Burnett, all of Harrisburg, PA; his sisters-in-law, Michelle Smith, Kimberly Davenport (Raymond), Pastor Cynthia Summers (Michael), and Michele Washington (Thomas); his brothers-in-law, Richard Burnett, Jr. (Toni), Corrie Burnett (Crystal), all of Harrisburg, PA; Ronald Hankerson (Cheryl) of McConnellsburg, PA and Anthony Hankerson of Chambersburg, PA; his eight granddaughters; his three grandsons and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to include his devoted friends, Richard Burnett, Jr., Clinton Sneed, Andre & Zack Chadwick of Harrisburg, PA and Kevin Long of Boston, MA.

His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home at 704 N. Front Street, Steelton, PA 17113 with Viewing and Visitation from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. and Burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
