Obituary For Ms. Cathie Jane Dye Hefner Johnson

Cathie Jane Dye Hefner Johnson, age 70, of Rock Hill, SC passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Cathie was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio and grew up in the Ohio River Valley where she attended Shadyside High School and Mount De Chantal Visitation Academy. She enjoyed spending her time in activities such as Girl Scouts, competitive swimming and diving, Rainbow Girls, camping, junior symphony and was a member of the Shadyside High School marching band. After leaving Ohio, Cathie moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, before settling in Hickory Grove, South Carolina where she married Charles Hefner and they raised their six daughters. Throughout her life, Cathie wore many hats as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and Nana. She worked as a meat cutter, farmer, she was a member of the Hickory Grove Fire/Rescue department, and a craft maker (from rocking chairs to quilts to Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls). All of Cathie’s life experiences ultimately lead her to her dream job of nursing as she loved taking care of others and giving of herself. Cathie loved her family and was preceded in death by her parents William Hobart and Erma Jean Christy Dye, brother David Lee Dye, and her great granddaughter Alexis Nicole Hefner. Cathie is survived by her three sisters Vickie Brown, Leslie Wilhelm, and Amie Hall, daughters: Tonia Sue Dickson (late husband Marshall Dickson), Melissa Hefner Sipe (Billy), Kimberley Hefner Gallien (Andrew), Hope Marie Walker (Steve), Billie Hefner Pitts (Paul), Katie Hefner (Jeff), her thirteen grandchildren: Zachary Hefner, Amber Dickson, Marshall Neil Dickson II, Brooklyn Tiller,(Chris) Micheal Hefner, Blake Walker, Jeff Edward Easley IIl,(Zyarria) Savannah Walker, Shania Easley, Zakara Easley, Zakia Easley, Mekenzie Carter, Mauriana-Catherine Carter and four great-grandchildren: Damien Hefner, Natalie Espey, Madison Tiller, and Elijah Hefner. The family requests any flowers be sent to 2073 Apartment B McGee Road Rock Hill South Carolina 29732 and any donations be given to the American Heart Association or to the American Kidney Foundation.

All services will be private and at the discretion of the family.
