Obituary For Mr. Steven Marque Leak

Steven Marque Leak, known to family and friends as “Marque”, was born January 29, 1978 in Wadesboro, North Carolina to Betty Lindsey and Steven Leak. He was called home to a peaceful rest on June 29, 2022.

He attended and graduated from Anson Senior High School in 1996. His love of sports gave him the pleasure of playing football for the Anson Bearcats during his high school years. He was also an elite member of their wrestling team. Marque continued his love for sports by coaching the Anson Bearcats after his senior graduation. He was a number one fan of the Buffalo Bills Professional Football Team and the Clemson Tigers College Football Team.

Marque served his community by mentoring the Anson County youth, and spent numerous hours alongside his wife, Lauren, assisting the homeless population in Mecklenburg County.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was an active choir member of Liberty Baptist Church in Waxhaw, NC. He truly LOVED the Lord.

Marque was a loyal employee for 11 years at “Shred-It” where he took pride in his work and met many new friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. T. Willie and Mrs. Fannie Mae Perkins, Mr. James Leak and Mrs. Dorothy Leak Cason, a special uncle, “June Perkins”, his grandmother-in-law, Ms. Nancy Jean Rucker and a great grandmother-in-law, Ms. Elizabeth Feimster.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his smile, his loving wife of 13 years, Lauren Leak, four sons, Cayden M. Leak (11), Camden M. Leak (10), Cody M. Leak (3) and Carter M. Leak (1), his mother, Betty Rivers, his father, Steven Leak, his loving step-father, Murray Rivers; his three sisters, Stavonne Leak (Elliott), Stephanie Leak (Jeffrey) and Kendra Berry (Brittany), his mother-in-law, Linda Ford Harper, father-in-law, Lawrence Harper Sr., brother-in-law, Lawrence Harper Jr., his aunt, Pastor Debra Sturdivant (Pastor Hubert Sturdivant), his three uncles, Donnell (Patricia) Leak, Larry Leak, and Randy Leak, special nephews, Desmon Hall, Kaleb Berry, Ladanian Harper and Zion Howell, a special niece, Taliyah Wall, many loving cousins and special friends.

Marque will be greatly missed. His smile lit up the lives of all who knew him.

The Homegoing Services will be on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The Leak Family will greet family and friends on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 12:30-1:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home.
