Willie attended Greene County High School and was a member of the Class of 1977. Later, he was employed with the City of Greensboro, following his job with Webb Supply Company.
After high school, Willie met Joanie Jernigan and they were united in holy matrimony in September of 1977.
"Pooh Nanny", as he was affectionately known, and Willie, to others, was a loyal servant in the community; he loved and was loved by many. On June 30, 2022, Willie answered God's call and transitioned into eternity.
Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Joanie Jernigan and his parents, Mr. Willie Thomas West and Mrs. Fannie Hudson; a grandson, Damion J. West (D.J.) along with other relatives and friends.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories 6 daughters, Rosalind (Anthony) Roach, Brandy (Marcus) Mallory, Sr., Juanita West, Yolanda West, Rita West, and Antonia Poter; 2 sons, Dwayne Robbins and Chris (Jill) Johnson; his sister-in-law, Jeanie (Durley) Fulton; 3 sisters, Brenda (Melvin) Cunningham, Charlene (David) Swain, Deborah (Boyd) McDaniel; 5 brothers, Charles West, James (Kim) Hudson, Troy Cummings, Ronnie Cummings and Tony Jack Rowland; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousin. Willie also leaves behind 4 special friends, Horace Griffin, Tommy Williams, James Garth and Ronald (Pine) West; a special friend, Marcia Smith and 3 bonus children, Sheree (Maurice) Payne, Nikkita Scott, Asia Smith and a special godson, Austin Elder.
