Hazel Mae Gibson Avant

Hazel Mae Gibson Avant was born in Evergreen, North Carolina to the parents, the late Haywood Gibson and Rosa Gibson on March 3, 1934.

Hazel Mae Gibson married Fred Avant, an army veteran in August of 1956. The couple relocated from North Carolina to Florida where Hazel Avant maintained as a devoted wife and homemaker to her five children, Jimmy Avant, Jerry Avant, Rosa Avant, Tony Alphonso Avant, Gary Avant. Sister Hazel Avant is preceeded in death by her late husband Fred Avant.

Hazel Avant accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her early years where she was an active member of the Church Of God In Christ #4 under the leadership of Elder Davis.

On June 25, 2022, the Lord sent His angels of mercy and grace to retrieve our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to many unto Him. Sister Hazel Avant earned her heavenly wings and peace at last.

Loved ones left to cherish her precious memories of Sister Hazel Avant are her sons, Jimmy Avant, jerry Avant, Tony Avant, and Gary Avant; daughter, Rosa Avant; Brother-in-law, Izear Avant (Martha); Sisters-in-law, Angelon Simmons (Gene), Marlene Haddon, and Odessa Avant (Paul); 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Izear(Martha)Avant; sisters-in-law, Marlene Hadden and Angerlon(Gene)Simmons; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many other close relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Public visitation for Hazel Mae Gibson Avant will take place on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID-19 have been relaxed, we at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff.
