Bro. Lee Nathan Upshaw, Jr., affectionately known as "Lil Lee", 41, of Ft. Mitchell, AL passed Wednesday, July 6, 2022 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Friendship Baptist Church #3 (Wendee Road) Hurtsboro, AL, Pastor Thomas Gathwright and Pastor Clarence McGruder, officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Friday, July 15, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
"Lil Lee" was born on September 29, 1980 in Columbus, GA to Christine Lindsey Upshaw and the late Lee Nathan Upshaw, Sr. Bro. Lee confessed his belief in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Friendship Baptist Church #3 where he served as the Vice President of the Board of Trustee and a member of the Adult Usher Board. He attended Russell County Schools. Shortly after, he went on to pursue his college degree at Wallace Community College where he obtained an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology. He then joined the military where he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was employed at Westrock for 11 years until his passing. He was a loving, good-hearted, faithful and genuine person; his love for his family was impeccable and wholehearted. He was a man of his word and stood for the truth.
Bro. Lee was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; several aunts; uncles and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a resilient wife, Romi Upshaw of Ft. Mitchell, AL; two wonderful children, Aleeiah Upshaw and Alex Upshaw of Ft. Mitchell, AL; his lovely mother, Christine Lindsey Upshaw of Hurtsboro, AL; two sisters, Cassandra Lindsey and La'Carole Upshaw-Lloyd (Brian) both of Phenix City, AL; one brother, DeMonte Truttling of Cocoa Beach, FL; four nephews, Devonte Lindsey of Adana, TK, Jacory and Jordan Lloyd of Hurtsboro, AL and Brian Lloyd, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; five nieces, Erika Truttling of Tampa, FL, Alexis Dix and Ashanti Dix both of Hurtsboro, AL, Arial Lloyd and Nahla Lloyd both of Phenix City, AL; great niece, Jaliyiah Golden of Phenix City, AL; great-nephew, Kayden Dix of Hurtsboro, AL; ten aunts; four uncles; mother-in-law, Johnnie Thomas of Hurtsboro, AL; father-in-law, O.B. Ivey of Pittsview, AL; brother-in-law, Christopher Dix of Hurtsboro, AL and a host of many cousins, relatives and friends.
