On September 20, 2017, in Sylacauga, Alabama, Danejah M. Keith and Emmett C. Jackson, Jr. were blessed with a bouncing baby boy they named D’Kourtlee Emeire.
Although D’Kourtlee’s life was cut short in nearly 5 years, he mastered the art of displaying a beautiful smile, laughs that would tug on even the toughest of heart strings and gave hugs that would ooze love. He was blessed with the opportunity to attend Child’s World and Precious Angels Daycare where he began acquiring lots of skills that could prove helpful in the future. DK, as he was known by many, was very inquisitive and had a thirst for knowledge. He began his training for a potential career in law enforcement by studying the activities of the officers on Paw Patrol. The taught him what a model citizen should look like and what it meant to protect and serve. His first assignment was to be the guardian, protector and trusted companion and playmate to his little sister, Naivee. She and any other baby that was around him was indeed in good hands under his watch. He might have had a successful career in automotive sales or repair because he and his toy cars were inseparable. At the age of 3, DK’s life began to change. He received the most difficult, but important job he could ever have…to FIGHT! He accepted the call to action in March of 2022. When the doctors said there was nothing more they could do, through the prayers of his loved ones and friends God granted them more time than the few days or weeks that man said he had to live. DK’s life was truly a blessing.
It was on Friday, July 8, 2022, that God saw that D’Kourtlee’s little body could no longer fight, so he whispered to him “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Although he was sad to leave, DK found rest in His arms along with his great grandparents, Lola Keith, Joe Garrett, Gaither Robinson and Johnny Jackson; and great-great grandparents, Arron and Lucy Turner.
D’Kourtlee was the loving son of Danejah M. Keith of Talladega, Alabama and Emmett C. Jackson, Jr. of Sylacauga, Alabama; brother and playmate to Naivee Keith, A’lani Blount and Janiyia Twymon of Talladega, Alabama and Jayce Sanford of Sylacauga, Alabama; wallet holder to his grandparents, Gaytreal Keith of Talladega, Alabama, Joseph (Quince) Garrett of Weaver, Alabama, Lisa Sparks (Alvin McKenzie) of Sylacauga, Alabama and Emmett Jackson of Childersburg, Alabama; hugs and kisses provider to his great grandparents, Delois Garrett of Alpine, Alabama, Celeste Hughes of Talladega, Alabama, Gloria Averitt of Sylacauga, Alabama, Jewell McKenzie of Childersburg, Alabama and William McGregor of Sylacauga, Alabama; and joy and sunshine to a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
