Harvester Parker, Sr.

Mr. Harvester Parker, Sr. passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his residence. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church at 12:00 pm. Visitation 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Professional services entrusted to Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.

Harvester Parker, Sr. was born on August 31, 1941 to the late Novella Parker Turner and Wash Turner in Jefferson County, Birmingham, Alabama. He departed this life on July 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Parker and brother, Wallace Turner.

Harvester gave his life to Christ and joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James E. McCoy. He moved his membership to Godly Love Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, Bus Ministry and was a faithful bible study goer. He reunited with New Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he was a devoted Deacon and member.

Harvester was educated in the Birmingham City Schools. He worked at Lorillard as a machine operator before retiring after 34 years of service.

Harvester was an avid bowler, he loved to eat and fellowship with his retiree buddies, family and friends. One of his passions was watching old western tv shows.

Harvester had a warm heart, caring spirit and a beautiful smile. He married his high sweetheart Frances Parker on August 19, 1962. They shared a blissful fifty-three (53) years together until her death. Now they are back together again. Together they had two (2) children, Natalie and Harvester, Jr.

Harvester leaves to cherish his memory: devoted daughters, Donna Parker and Natalie Parker; son, Harvester Parker, Jr. (Donna); three granddaughters, Charmece, Marketta and McKenzie; one grandson, Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Ayden, Elijah and Ja’Zaria all of Greensboro; brother, Robert Turner (Tracey) of Fresno, California; sisters, Gloria Dewey, Atlanta, Georgia, Jerelean Ayers, Patricia Turner-Manuel, Naomi Miller all of Birmingham, Alabama and Ruth Nelson of New Mexico; special friends, Mr. Charlie and Joan Mitchell and a host of nieces and nephews.
