She was a member of Warren Memorial United Church where she served with great dedication. Sonja was a world traveler and an avid bridge player with membership in multiple bridge clubs. She was a member of the Red Hatters, Girlfriends Social Club, and the Literary Lunch Bunch Book Club. She had a series of "ones" in her life. She was an only child, her son, Dr. Bruce January and her grandson Justin January is an only child as well. Her husband Norman Richard Johnson added what she never had-a loving larger family that supported her through life. The Johnsons were her bedrock. Norman was a devoted husband for 29 years before his passing in 2017. Her son Norman Ricardo Johnson (Edviena) and her grandson Jason Armstrong also preceded her in death. Sonja is survived by her sons Bruce January and Carl Johnson (Gail) and her daughter Patricia Solomon, who was most supportive during her final years. Her grandchildren Ronda Christian, Christopher Johnson (Sonia), Lisa Tolliver (Beau'), Shawna Armstrong, Allison Shannon (Marquis), Lauren Johnson, Joshua Johnson (Alexis), and Justin January added richness and years of love and laughter to her life. Sonja leaves behind eight delightful great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bruce, my deepest condolences; just learning of Sonja' transition. She was my first supervisor as I began my career at DFCS in 1980. We became friends over the years; even through our retirements.. since then we kept in touch via our holiday greetings. I will treasure the memories of her. RIP. Preston Weaver
