Obituary For Charlotte Evans

Charlotte V. Evans, 74, the daughter of the late James F. House Jr. and Dora L. Gladden was born in Lynchburg VA, and relocated to Harrisburg, PA when she was four years old. Charlotte received her formal education in the Steelton educational system. Charlotte was raised by her grandparents the late James F. House Sr. and the late Theresa M. House.

In 1969, Charlotte was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Dennis J. Evans Sr. their union was blessed 5 children, Charlotte also raised her three nephew and three younger siblings.

For over thirty years Charlotte served in the medical field, first at the State Hospital and then at Dauphin Manor County Home as a Nursing Assistant. After retiring she did Private Nursing for several years.

Charlotte loved God and her family most of all, she was teaching and instructing her children to the very end! Whenever asked how was she doing her response was always, “Blessed by the best”! Charlotte was a devoted Roller & Dallas Cowboy fan, she loved traveling, doing puzzles, coloring and crocheting and sewing, everything she did was done to perfection. She was a member of the Monumental A.M.E. Church in Steelton PA, for over 40 years in which she served on several boards and clubs. In 2012 she became a member of full Harvest Ministries where she served on the mother’s ministry and hospitality and cleaning committee.

On Sunday July 3rd, 2022 in peace and love with her family at her bedside in Harrisburg PA, Charlotte at the age of 74 years 10 months and 24 days, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal life. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her husband Dennis J. Evans, Sr., her sons, Dennis J. Evans, Jr. and Stacy Proctor, her step daughter, Dietre Malory, her brother, Edward Gladden, her sisters, Doris Gladden and Vivian Proctor. In addition, Charlotte leaves to celebrate and cherish precious memories, her daughters, Carmela Craig (Gino, son-in-law forever) of Harrisburg and Tyra Madden (Brandon Sr.) of Steelton; her sons, Shawn Evans, Sr. (Tammy) of Middletown, Troy Proctor (Sonia) of Harrisburg and William Proctor (Wendy) of Virginia and adopted son Donnell Barley of Harrisburg; her brothers, Tyrone Gladden, Alfred Gladden and her sister, Kimberly Gladden, all of Harrisburg PA and her two best friends Mary Jane Davis of Harrisburg and Elizabeth Jefferies of Steelton, Pa., and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.

Charlotte's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary of Living Water Community Church, 206 Oakleigh Ave., Harrisburg with viewing 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks for all attendees.
