Obituary For Carol “Lad “ Appleton Woods

Mrs. Carol C. “Lad" Appleton 96, of Birmingham, AL., departed this life July 14, 2022. Sincere condolences and prayers for family and friends.

Carol Christine Appleton was born on December 27, 1925, to the proud parents, Lonnie and Marie (Hill) Appleton.

Carol was affectionately called "Lad' by her best friends, but her aunt and neighbor insisted on calling her "Carol".

She was educated in the city of Birmingham school district and attended Thomas School.

Carol Confessed Christ as a young woman and united with New Hope Baptist Church. After relocating to her present home, she attended Crumbley chapel Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined. Every Sunday, she would listen Pastor Gregory Clarke on the radio and Bishop Gilbert Patterson every Sunday afternoon.

She loved her fur babies, enjoyed cooking and was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves. Carol was generous with hospitality and fed whoever would come visiting.

Carol was the last and longest survivor of seven siblings. she will be remembered with fondest memories by her nieces, Alma Johnson and Shirley Lynch, both of Gadsden, AL., and Frankie (OJ) Ford of Collinsville, AL.; cousins, Margaret Burns and Larry Appleton, both of Birmingham, AL.; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Martha Hares of Birmingham, AL., and Joanne Smith (Jo Baby) of Atlanta, GA. A shout out to Leon Carnegie, who would occasionally visit and bring a Bar-B-Que sandwich.

We will all miss her humor, reminding us of appointments and obligations. Her love of family and friends was unconditional.
