The Obituary Barbara Ann Barnes Head was the last child born to her late parents, Mr. Reese Barnes and Mrs.Sudie Bradley Barnes O’Barr. Dutch O’Barr was her step father and she loved him very much. She was born on September 10, 1940 in Gadsden, Alabama. She has been a resident in Gadsden her entire life. She accepted Christ at an early age and was attending Dwight Baptist Church in Gadsden. She was a member of the Attalla Church of God. Barbara married John S. Head and they had one son, Michael J. Head. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a hard worker and caregiver. She quit her job to care for her mother and step father until their deaths. When she was able to work again, Walmart had the perfect position for her. Barbara loved being a people greeter at Walmart, first in Gadsden and then Attalla. She enjoyed working with the diverse group of people at Walmart and thought a lot of the company. She earned many accolades while working at Walmart. She really loved getting the awards but not so much taking the pictures to hang on the wall. Not many people knew that she was a talented artist. On Friday, July 15, 2022 the Lord called Momma Head home to her eternal resting place. She is preceded in death by her husband John S. Head, her mother, father, and step father Sudie O’Barr, Reese Barnes, and Dutch O’Barr, two brothers, Jack and James Barnes, two sisters, Mildred Holt and Betty Murray. Barbara leaves to mourn and cherish her lifetime of memories son and daughter by love, Michael J. Head (Michelle), grandson John S. Head II, great grand Michael Bentley Head, brother, Melvin Barnes (Joan) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to her Sheriff (as she called him) and his wife, Jonathan and Angie Horton. Thank you to everyone for your prayers during her illness. There will be no visitation or funeral per her wishes due to her over six month battle with Covid that eventually caused her death. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
