Obituary For Curtis Alford Eliott Jones

Curtis Alford Eliott Jones, 84, of Augusta, GA, the devoted husband of 56 years to Joyce E. Jones went home to the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday July 13, 2022.

Curtis was born in Lynchburg, VA and spent his formative years in New Britain, CT. After serving 20 years in the US Marine Corp and the US Army he retired in Augusta GA.

Curtis then pursued a career in banking, where as a Vice President - Branch Manager he worked for various banks retiring from Georgia Bank and Trust Co in 2003 after a total banking career of 25 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters; Michelle S. Jones, Tiffany D. (Robert Jr) Lofton; Grandchildren; Andre C. E. Murphy and Krislyn E Murphy; Great Grandchildren; Esme I. Polanco, Ronan E. Murphy and Sol P. Polanco; Brother, Lloyd A. Eliott, El Paso, TX and Sister, Lyvonnia Napier, Lynchburg, VA; a very special uncle, Claude Jones, Grovetown, GA and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and close friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening July 21, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM at First Metropolitan Baptist Church, 3719 Belair Road, Augusta, GA 30909.

Graveside Services with full Military Honors will be held July 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM - Bellevue Memorial Gardens, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, GA.

COVID guidelines are asked to be followed - Masks and Distancing please.

I am so sorry to learn of the death of Curtis A. E. Jones. He was my boss at the Military Police Security Platoon at Hawkins Barracks in Oberammergau, Germany, when I was the office clerk. Curtis and I worked together at Georgia Railroad Bank. I always liked his gentle disposition and great smile. He is a fond memory of mine and will miss seeing him at our Retired Officers gathering. Gene Renno

I can only smile when I think of Curt - I'm remembering his wonderfully warm & kind personality (& his laughter). My sincere condolences to The Family of Mr. Curtis Jones. I met Mr. Jones and his Wife Joyce at Trinity CME Church Augusta, Georgia. Mr. Jones begin teaching Sunday at our Church. Mr. Jones wife Joyce and I loved a restaurant called; " Sticky Fingers " now closed that served barbecue ribs. We loved that place. The Jones's are very good people and I know Mr. Jones is already taken of by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Cliff W. Terrell
