Obituary For Mickera "Mike" Evans

Funeral services for Mr. Mickera "Mike" Evans of Pell City, 64, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Visitation for Mr. Evans will be held from 1-6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the funeral home.

On April 17, 1958, Willie Robert Evans and his bride, Margie Dean Jordan Evans of Pell City, Alabama welcomed a son they named Mickera, that later would be known as “Mike”, to their family.

Mr. Evans attended church at Abundant Life in Gadsden, Alabama under the leadership of Bishop Terry Jones. He was a graduate of Pell City High School and was employed in construction for many years. In his spare time, Mike could be found working on cars and assisting his son with any number of things.

As spoken by someone who knew him: “Mike was a nice person. He worked religiously in his yard and it showed. He took pride in what he owned and took care of it, including his wife. As a youth and young man, he played baseball under the leadership of his father and was a good player. Whenever someone met him, he always wore a smile and was a man of few words.”

In the early hours of July 21, 2022, Mickera traded time for eternity at St. Vincent’s St. Clair. He was reunited in eternity with his parents, Willie and Margie Evans; and six siblings, Bonnie Jean Evans, Gregory Evans, Alvin Evans, Dwight Evans, Rosalind Peterson and Gwendolyn McGraw.

Mickera will be truly missed by his wife, Vardean W. Evans of Pell City, Alabama; his son, Michael (Alison) Evans of Pell City, Alabama; three grandchildren, Jazmine Evans of Oxford, Alabama, Alyssa Evans of Pell City, Alabama and Grey Simmons of Pell City, Alabama; one great grandson, Grayson Glass of Oxford, Alabama; one sister, Willie Loise Evans of Pell City, Alabama; in-laws, Deloise Wade of Riverside, Alabama, Howard (Vicki) Wade of Jackson, Michigan, Bertha Smith of Pell City, Alabama, Carolyn Collins of Carrollton, Georgia and Lorraine Wade of Riverside, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
