Obituary For Mr. Allen Hamm

Mr. Allen Hamm was born on November 11, 1959 as the fifth child of the late Mr. Wilbur Hamm and Mrs. Annie Kate Hamm in Barnesville, Lamar County, Georgia. At an early age, he confessed to Christ and joined the Sand Hill CME Church in Barnesville, GA. He attended regular worship services, took part in the groundskeeping, and provided maintenance services for the church. He enjoyed participating in many of the church’s outreach ministries throughout the year. Allen was educated in the Lamar County School System and graduated with the Lamar County Comprehensive High School Class of 1977. He was an avid sportsman and participated in various sports including basketball, track and field, and cross country. In 1977, he set the school’s record for the Long Jump. He was also a star letterman and a 1st State Qualifier. Other extra-curricular activities included horticulture, FFA, 4H, Automotive Shop, and all other vocational training programs such as the Lamar County CETA program. After high school, Allen enrolled and graduated from the Automotive Certification Program at Griffin Technical Institution in 1981. He was employed for 45 years at Continental Tire (Aldora Mills) in several positions. He retired in 2021 as a Cable Machine Operator. He enjoyed all Atlanta professional sports teams and the Georgia Bulldogs. His favorite past time included fishing, traveling to the beach (Savannah), social gatherings (dancing), and listening to 1970’s and 1980’s music. His radio listening included Joel Olsteen Ministries and watching the old westerns.

Allen was a faithful and loving son, brother, uncle, and dad. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charlie Hamm and Wilbur (Luella) Hamm, Jr.; and a sister, Emma (Sonny) Hood. He transitioned to his new home on Thursday, July 21, 2022, with the presence and support of his family. Allen leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Ms. Alneika Crawford; a son, Mr. Jamin (Angel) Stewart; five grandchildren; two sisters, Ms. Annie R. Hamm, and Mrs. Elaine (Rev. William S.) Banks; three brothers, Mr. Eddie Hamm, Mr. Willie F. Hamm, and Rev. Reginald (Louanne) Hamm; two aunts, Ms. Ethel Eleby and Ms. Dorothy Traylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Graveside Services were held Monday, July 25, 2022 11:00 A.M. Sandhill CME Church Cemetery
