Mrs. Alta Maria ‘Chick’ Shelton Carroll (November 22, 1935-July 10, 2022)

The beloved ‘Chick’, a long time resident, Brooklyn, NY, formerly of Rome, GA, harkened unto the realm of His promise, As It Is Written, Ecclesiastes 3:2-12 “He sets the time for birth [November 22, 1935] and the time for death [July 10, 2022]” that Sunday morning…peacefully, in her sleep. Though loved ones be saddened in her demise, yet, gracious for God’s comfort in her season of earthly dismay. Memorial services will be observed Saturday, July 30, 2022, 3 PM, Guarino Funeral Home, 9222 Flatlands Ave, Brooklyn, NY, 11236. Eulogist, the Rev. Resley G. Cole, nephew, Senior Pastor, the Greater White Rock Baptist Church, Decatur, GA, with local ministers presiding. Preceding her passing: husband, Thomas ‘Lapuppet’ Carroll, son, Ronald McHenry; parents, William G. and Celia Dozier Shelton; siblings, William G. Shelton, Jr., Minnie S. Wilson, Dr. Bobby L. Shelton, Sr. D.V.M., Ola S. Cole and Helen Shelton (infancy); nephews, Bruce Wilson & Van Shelton; nieces, Elise D. Shelton, Esq. and Gale Shelton. Survivors: son, Tim ‘Pre’ Carroll; grandson, Dafé Carroll, Brooklyn, NY; family friend/confidante, Patricia Watts, NC/Brooklyn, NY and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends. Alumna, NYU, CUNY and Main High School/Band, Rome, GA, Class of 1952. Until retirement, she served in Business Education Administration, the New York City Board of Education and an integral officer of associated professional organizations.
