Obituary For Barbara L. Young

Barbara L. Young, 80, of Eden passed 7/24/2022. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Springfield Baptist Church, 2008 Price Road, Eden, NC with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow in Eden Gardens Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Barbara Lucille Young was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 25, 1941, to parents Josephine and Frances DeSales Grayson, and she departed this life surrounded by her loving children on July 24, 2022. Barbara was a loving mother to four children, Patricia, Barbara Lee (who preceded her in death), Alfred and James. Barbara was the oldest and the only daughter of five children, and she spent most of her formative and young adult years growing up in New York City. Barbara had a very engaging and outgoing personality, and she thoroughly enjoyed the city life. As a young girl, Barbara loved to dance, and she dreamed of becoming a dancer when she grew up. Barbara was very creative and was a self -taught artist who loved to draw. One of the things she loved to do was to draw horses in her spare time. She was good at arts and crafts, and she loved to create little trinkets made from a variety of items she would find and piece together. Later in life, Barbara relocated to Eden, North Carolina as she wanted to be near her beloved mother as she got older. While in Eden, she decided to go back to school to pursue her GED and she also took classes to become a certified Healthcare aide. Barbara loved to learn new and different things and she always challenged herself to continuously learn and grow. Barbara worked as an attendant for the Bryant Center nursing facility in Eden for a while before she retired. Throughout her life, Barbara was a very kind and caring person. While she had a very humble existence, she was always willing to help anyone who needed her. Barbara enioyed going to church and she loved gospel music. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina and she also worshipped at Mountainview Baptist Church in Martinsville, Virginia. She will be missed by all who love her dearly. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Sherron), Alfred (Courtney), and James, her loving brothers, Francis (Ella), Charles (Jean), James (Leah), her grandsons, Justin, Kaytron, Kyrie and Hudson and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
