Joseph King Neal Grier

August 20, 1975 - July 21, 2022

Macon, Georgia - Services for Mr. Joseph King Neal Grier will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 131 Ward St., Macon, GA 31204 with Burial at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. A Rosary Service will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Hutchings Funeral Home, 536 New St., Macon, GA 31201.

He was born to the late Joseph Wayne Neal and Jane Maria Grier. He received infant baptism at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and attended elementary school there and at Holy Child Catholic School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended St. Joseph Preparatory Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. Joseph returned to Georgia and graduated from Evans High School in Evans, Georgia in 1993. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics from Xavier University as well as a Master's Degree in Curriculum Instructions in Secondary Education.

He taught both physics and mathematics in some of the most prestigious high schools in the District of Columbia Public Schools, including Woodrow Wilson High School. The recognition of his leadership abilities elevated him to the position of Department Chair.

Joseph was preceded in death by both his parents; his grandparents, Mr. Freddie L. Grier, Sr., and Mrs. Rebecca Jane King Grier; his uncles; Mr. Freddie L. Grier, Jr., and Mr. Johnny C. Smith; and his aunt, Ms. Josephine Rebecca Grier.

He leaves to mourn his daughter, Grace Maria Grier and her family; his aunts; Mrs. Roxie Grier Harris and Loretto Grier-Cudjoe Smith, DMD; a host of other relatives and friends.
